The double exhibition entitled Affinità Elettive (Elective Affinities) and set up at the Gallerie dell'Accademia and in the new headquarters of the Berggruen Institute Europe in Giudecca places a selection of artworks belonging to the two important European collections in dialogue, inviting visitors to discover them by relying exclusively on their own instinct. The exhibition curated by Giulio Manieri Elia, Michele Tavola, Gabriel Montua and Veronika Rudorfer, hosts at the Gallerie dell'Accademia 17 works from the Museum Berggruen in Berlin unexpectedly integrated into the permanent exhibition itinerary, triggering a sort of treasure hunt among masterpieces by Picasso, Matisse, Klee, Giacometti and Cézanne on the one hand, and Giorgione, Sebastiano Ricci, Pietro Longhi, Giambattista Tiepolo and Canova on the other. While the Casa dei Tre Oci, just reopened to the public after the restoration, presents an unusual combination of 4 works on paper from the graphic collection of the Gallerie dell'Accademia and 26 works from the Museum Berggruen, signed among others by Klee, Picasso, Cézanne and Matisse.
