Memory for the Future – DIALOGUE

Živa Kraus, Impronta, 1972, Charcoal drawing | Courtesy of Živa Kraus and Ikona Photo Gallery, Venice

The historic Venetian gallery celebrates its first forty years of activity with an exhibition that summarizes its pioneering essence since its foundation, which took place in 1979 by the artist Živa Kraus. The black and white shots by Erich Hartmann, Ferdinando Scianna, Barbara Morgan, Lisette Model, Martine Franck, among the leading photographers of the mid and late twentieth century, and all exhibited in various stages at the Ikona, contrast the pictorial works by Kraus, establishing a harmonious thematic correspondence with a strong visual iconicity, which in its intimate character, always addressed to Venice and to the role of art in the life of women, constitutes the precious distillate of an age not to be forgotten.
