Burri la Pittura, Irriducibile Presenza

Alberto Burri, Rosso Plastica M3, 1961, Plastic, burning on canvas, Palazzo Albizzini Foundation, Burri Collection

A substantial retrospective retrospective, designed specifically for Venice, commemorates the great Umbrian artist retracing chronologically the most important steps from his career. Through the dense colors loved by the pioneer of the new painting of the second half of the twentieth century, the exhibition presents an unprecedented selection of about 50 masterpieces from the Burri Foundation and from several international museums as well as important private collections, which describe all the most famous cycles made from Burri, like the rare Catrami of the beginning (1948) or the iconic Sacchi (1949-50), the Muffe (1948) and the Gobbi (1950), the intriguing Combusions (1953), the Legni (1955), the Ferri (1958 ), the Plastiche (1960) and the fascinating Cretti (1970), which became one of Burri's most symbolic research themes, up to the large Cellotex of the last few years.
